  1. Things sure have changed When we did our K1 it was the opposite. But in my case as well as the OP the bureaucracy of getting married in her country is what told us to do K1. But we did not have the backlog that exists now. Now it is much shorter and easier for spousal. My wife had parole and work permit 6 weeks after marriage and initial green card 3 months after marriage. You do not see those numbers now since the pandemic.
  2. A new or updated I-693 ids required if something was missing from the first It might be related to the COVID vaccine. If it was not required the you did your originally do your I-693, that could be the issue. Or maybe they need proof of the second dose. Also sometimes the original I-693 has the things missing. Basically at AOS it is looked at again. but it is looked at with current requirements and not the original requirements you needed for the K=1
  3. Well in today's world (post COVID) all timelines are unknown. It all depends on the persons situation. If the spouse can do full support for a year, then the K1 is still faster. She needs to look at all aspects based on their situation. If they want to be married and together in the same country, the K1 is still faster. But the K1 has draw backs such as change of status. But there are drawbacks to the CR1 as well. They simply need to know the facts and choose what is best. What was the deciding factor for my wife and I was the time. Mainly because of Brazilian law and wait times for marriage there and the fact I would need to make a minimum of another trip, which is time off of work as well as the expense. As I stated above, for a foreigner to marry a Brazilian in Brazil there is a minimum 30 day waiting period after you apply for the license. That is na expense most are not considering here. You could get married faster going to a neighboring country, but that has its own complications with the process as well as family. We were also very surprised on our timeline. Started in April, E-mail for consular interview in July scheduled for August....My immigration lawyer said it would be 9 months. Now everything is so back logged. However given the AOS and such of the K1 I went into it assuming I would have to support her 100% for a long period of time. That is the nature of a K1, so if you are not financially able to do that then the K1 needs to be re-evaluated. Even when we did ours the timelines were not given to be fast. We got very lucky. But when you do this you need to plan for the worse since you have zero control of the timeline.
  4. Part of my other point. For a few weeks of insurance is it really worth the hassle of trying to prove a stable union to the insurance company.
  5. You are far along in the K1 Process. First thing to check before you consider withdrawing is if you can still get the fee back. Back when my wife and I were considering solutions, the CR1 was not a good option. As people have told you the K1 wait times are longer now. But also is the CR1. In addition most cartarios in Brazil require a 30 day waiting period for the marriage to take place, which probably means you fiancée making another trip to Brazil after applying for the marriage license. Only after marriage you can file for the CR1. You will also incur fees to get the marriage license translated to English. However, a stable union in Brazil is not marriage. You are not married and it cannot be construed as such. A stable union is basically you proving you are living together and financially vested together. That is not marriage. That being said, I am not sure you qualify that since you obviously do not live together. If your worry is medical insurance while he is visiting I just would not go there. I would simply spend the little bit of money to get him insured for the visit if that is your worry. There is just too much hassle for the stable union if he is only going to be there a few weeks. You have to figure out what is best for your situation. But you need to look at all sides
