I’m having issues at my job. I’ve been there since my husband and I moved back to NZ, however I’m the target of a work place bully who also happens to the be boss and one of the owners. All of my coworkers say that it’s just way he is and not to take it personally, but he makes it very personal and I’m really struggling to put up with it anymore. Complaining is not an option. As he says, I’m replacable but he’s not. My husband and I were looking at moving down to the South Island so my time was going to be very limited at this job, but now that we’re moving back to the USA and going through an I-130 petition again we decided that I’d just stay at this job until my visa is approved and in my hand. Unfortunately NZ doesn’t offer DCF anymore. Now I’m wanting to find a new job for the next year while we go through visa process again. Another issue is when my husband moves back to the states in November, I am moving in with my Mum who lives in the middle of no where basically. Commuting is going to be nightmare as my pay check won’t even cover the gas to and from work so we were thinking that I would just stop working and wait out until I have my visa in my hand. I know how bad that will look to immigration and I don’t want there to be any reason for them to deny me but I cannot stay at this job or my mental health will suffer immensely.

Does anyone one have any thoughts?

Your employment status and history will have no bearing on the visa application. Your application is based on the marriage relationship, the USC being domicile in US, and a satisfactory sponsor . Your background checks are not looking  at employment

Oh really? I was under the impression that my employment history affects my eligibility for any kind of visa.

I was hoping to go for thanksgiving when my husband moves back, so I can have a little holiday but realistically if I don’t have a job then they won’t let me in, as we will be paying off all of our debt before he goes so I won’t necessarily have any ties like that except my family, bank account and phone bill. I guess we’ll just have to weigh up the options and make a decision.

No , job status is not a issue or consideration for immediate relative visa beneficiaries.

For Thanksgiving,  you will be entering on VWP for the holiday with your husbands family. Answer honestly any questions asked... don’t offer more than asked.

Thanks heaps for all of that! You’ve calmed my nerves down a lot 😊

Gaaaah!!! I hate workplace bullies soooo sooo much!!! I had an issue with one and ended up leaving my job instead of telling them where to stuff their mind games and bullshi** (excuse my language.)  You have the right to be treated respectfully at work and if your boss is not treating you that way then they need to understand that it's not okay.  He sounds like a real piece of trash.  Workplace bullying seems to be really common in New Zealand.  I have had encounters at both the jobs I've worked here with my current manager already having 2 previous employees seek other job opportunities in the business to get away from him.  Complaining should be an option for you as should telling your nasty boss to get rekt.  I wouldn't stress about the employment history issue at all.  Since you're the beneficiary it doesn't matter nearly as much.  The petitioner is the one who needs to be on top of that I believe.  You should do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.  If you need to find a new job or not work for a while then I say do that. Seriously though, it makes me so angry to see this happening to someone else!! I've just found out about my former coworker at my former job leaving because they bullied her out as well. :ranting::ranting::protest::protest: Bullies suck!!!

Your reply just made my day! He is a real piece of work and is known as a bully. Apparently he has calmed down a lot, he used to make at least one person cry every single day! I’m not about to put up with it so I’ve been applying to other jobs and I’m just crossing my fingers that I get another one quickly so I can be done with it. I had another read of my contract and he is the only person that handles complaints... which is probably why no one has ever said anything! My husband is struggling to find a new job too as he’s leaving his current job due to bullying and death threats from his colleagues. Veeeeeery long story with his job and what we’re going through with that. We were thankful that my job was stable and I was happy in it, typical that everything happens at once! I’m definitely not the first nurse to leave due to his behaviour and I’m sure I won’t be the last either. Cross your fingers that I get a new job soon please! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Gaah, your husband is dealing with bullying as well???!!!! Unbelievable!! And I can't believe your bully is in the medical profession!!! That makes him even worse!! He is supposed to be helping people!!! I've heard there's a massive shortage of nurses at the moment.  I hope your boss has a fat cry when you resign.  That'll teach him to be an idiot.  I reallly hope that you find a better job with a reallly nice boss soon.  I also hope that you have a much better experience at work when you live in the states.  That is just unbelievable that you're both having to struggle with this at the same time.  I really feel for you and I hope time passes quickly and you're able to enjoy or at least tolerate work again.  Processing times seem to be picking up again so maybe you'll get a bit of luck with your visa time frame as well!  Here's hoping!

It’s crazy how bad bullying is here! I should have been more specific, I’m a vet nurse lol, we call ourselves nurses because we are but our patients are much hairier. Still the medical profession but we deal with horses and their crazy owners instead. There’s a shortage of vet nurses too, just hard to find a job because there’s so many toxic workplaces in this profession and we get next to nothing for pay. When we were living in the states my husband was enlisted in the Air Force and he got treated  way better than he has been here. I had another toxic work place at the clinic I worked out, however it was much better than my current. We’re so ready to go back and be able to settle into new jobs and our own home again. I’ve noticed that they’ve improved! My petition is at Nebraska so I’m not going to hold my breath 😂

I’m still there and no change unfortunately.  I’m avoiding the bully as much as I can and luckily last week I was sick the whole week, so I got a break from him. I’ve been applying to jobs and I have an interview on Friday, so fingers crossed! It’s a big reduction in pay, but it’s only temporary and I won’t have to be on call anymore and it’s pretty relaxed and enjoyable. I’m definitely excited for the potential change of pace, but absolutely devastated to be leaving such a great job and great group of people all because of one bad apple.
