form i-485 INA section 245? HELP

hi, i am currently in the process of applying for adjustment of status through my husband. i have overstayed by a few months and i am slightly confused by the INA question on form i-485. it asks if you are applying for aos based on this.. can anyone help ?

Ok thank you. Who does this apply to? I read something about over staying so having to apply under this law but I don’t fully understand it. Still new to all of this

Timeline

it was a law given in 2001, if you had a petition before April 30th 2001 you would be able to adjust status in the us, if you entered illegally or entered legally and overstayed, you could pay a fine

 

overstaying for those who entered legally but not married to a us citizen, but for family members or employment
