Green card renewal and filed N-400

In January 2017, I filed to renew my 10 year GC, went for biometrics in February.

Right after that, I decided to file N-400 for citizenship.  I only got a few updates on my GC renewal throughout the year, basically just saying there is no update.  I had my Oath on 11/9 and the same day I started receiving emails from ELIS that there is an update and I should log on to check.  I logged in and it said that I should verify my mailing address.

Today I received another email, I log in again and it says my new green card has been produced and they are completing a final quality review.

Are they seriously mailing me the GC, even after Oath and filed Passport application?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks.

Anything is possible. I doubt it though. Maybe they don't have the right selection available to update the status as 'Green Card no longer needed.' Once you get your oath, they have to take your GC anyways so producing one now wouldn't make sense. But it's USCIS so...

You are already an USC. So I guess they just messing around with that, and no card will be produced.

Do you want to keep your German citizenship? If so, be aware that you need to go through a process and file stuff with the German government BEFORE filing for US citizenship. Otherwise you'll automatically lose your German citizenship when you get your US citizenship.

As someone who went through exactly this process, I have to correct you with this specific statement. You do not have to file something with the German government before filing for US citizenship. However, you have to be issued the "Beibehaltungsgenehmigung" with the German government before taking the Oath. A small, but vital difference.

He said, that he already had his Oath ceremony. So at this point it is too late for this. He lost his German citizenship. However, upto 12 years after the Oath you can still file for this. The only issue is, that you have to prove ties to both countries at the time before the Oath.

I send the N-400 as well as the Beibehaltungsgenehmigung at the same time. The Beibehaltungsgenehmigung was approved about 2,5 month later. The Oath came about four month after that.

Thank you for the correction. I totally spaced the fact that OP mentioned already going through Oath Ceremony. To be honest, it's a weird German quirk. Granted some countries don't allow dual citizenship.

With Hungary I did not have to file anything. I'll be a Hungarian citizen until I die or formally renounce it. (Even my kids, all born in the US are all Hungarian citizens by operation of law, even though I haven't obtained their papers yet, but having born to a Hungarian citizen mother anywhere in the world makes them Hungarian citizens.)

I think I received it shortly after the status change, by that time I was already a citizen.  I made an info pass appointment and turned the new GC in.
