30 years between you both?  Which is older?  What country?  Some counties a large age different when the women is older can be a red flag.  I'm also curious why you are just now filing for the petition if you've been married since 2015?

If you can prove a bonafide relationship red flags can be overcome.  Some things you can't change and if you really love each other you'll stick it through.

This is interesting... If an immigrant is female and 30 years younger than USC (age ain't such issue) and if immigrant is male and 30 years younger than USC (oh boy you are done deal). This aspect baffles me a lot.

Anyway be prepared to be denied initially and it may take multiple years for you guys to get through.

It's only a red flag when from certain countries. If it's not a normal thing then it is suspicious.

If a this same couple was Canadian mad with the USC wife being older it would not be looked at the same way as someone from a mena country.

Why does it baffle you?

It is very uncommon for a man to marry an older woman, let alone 30 years older. While not always the case, it is assumed that the man wants to start a family. It is very rare for a woman in her late forties to have multiple children.

On the other hand, a man in his sixties can certainly have many children with a woman 30 years younger than he is.

Having said that, while it would be a huge red flag for an older woman married to a much younger man, it is certainly possible to get approved if a strong case is presented.

A red flag is red flag, and this one is because it IS Nigeria.  The best way to overcome this kind of red flag is to spend a lot of time living together as husband and wife.

Why we always see those cases coming out of Nigeria and it is not common anywhere else in the world.

Not saying it does not happen, but Nigeria has a great track record for such kind of relationships.

In my opinion more than 90% of them are fake and I support the Embassy to apply the highest amount of scrutiny to protect the USC.

How so? There are two aspects to this: cultural norms (what is the ratio of older men/younger women to younger men/older women) and the fraud rates of younger man/older woman in immigration. It does not baffle me at all.

Isn’t it highly unusual and almost a taboo in Nigeria for a man to marry a woman twice as old as him let alone a 30 years difference? I know it’s customary for older men to marry younger women, young enough to be their daughter/granddaughter. Most tribes and even the younger man’s family wouldn’t let that happen and if u find a family that supports such marriage, chances are they’re aware of the scheme and stand to gain something out of it. That being said it’s a 95% chance the marriage is sham but stranger things have happened!

So in two years, you've spent 3 and a half months together? To be honest, that's more than my husband and I did but we only have a 4 year difference and we went through a much easier embassy. How did you two meet? How long did you talk before becoming engaged? Did you get engaged in person or was your first meeting when you got married? You're going to need lots of evidence of a real relationship and most of that evidence needs to be made face to face. Good luck on your journey. Prepare for a long stressful process. Immigration from Nigeria is normally neither fast not easy.

K-1 from Haiti - NOA1: 5/27/2014; NOA2: 7/8 USCIS never updated to say that it was sent to the NVC (just in case you're as concerned about your status not updating as I was about mine)

If three words ever applied across the entire website, they are these:  Listen to pushbrk.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
