Hello,

 

It has been a while i visited, and this place/site has helped me tremendously. Thank you ALL that reply to my questions,

 

I have a question about filing for my step mom. I want to file for my step mom who was later married to another man when my dad she was married to passed away. She later married another man and they had kids together (5). Now, my own mom is not around anymore too, I want to file for her to come and see my kids and probably stay for a while with us in USA. Since I got married to a U.S citizen and I am now a citizen too, none of my family members have visited me and my kids are too little to travel to Africa. I know she got RE-MARRIED when i was not up to years and that is one of the requirements needed for the filing. Any direction or help anyone can render to me would be appreciated - directions, forms/papers I need to submit, Affidavit of support?, how much is the cost etc.

1-129F Journey:

Met my Fiancee: 1998 when i was a tutor in a High

1998 December: Became friends and started talking

2000 : Lost Contact and never met again

2003: Traveled to the States and still not talking

2005: Traveled back home and we met again ( serious here)

2007: I made up my mind that she is "the one"

2007 December 27th: Proposed to her

2009 May 12th: sent in the 1-129F for her

2009 May 19th: Receipt of NOA1

Sept 15th : NOA2 Approved email received

Sept 22nd: NOA2 Hard Copy received

Sept 16th: Package sent to NVC

Sept 17th: Package Received at NVC

Sept 21st: Package sent to Local Embassy.

Sept 26th : NVC Approval Letter received in the mail

Sept 28th: Package Delivered at Local Embassy (Lagos Nigeria)....Signed by Ben Obi by 10.50am.....yahooo..time to get ready for interview

NOV 20TH: Interview Date by 7.am...too early and i wonder what my woman will do since she is like 6hrs from the Location

MEDICAL: Done on 12th

Interview: PASSED on 20th without stress and not much questions......Glory be to God

Visa Picked up: Nov. 27th

Wedding: Dec 31st..... Got wedded and was fabulous

January 16th..... Wife entered US with me through IAD ,,,,,,NO EAD received

January 20th..... Got our Marriage License

February 14th .....Civil Marriage Date

If she only wants to visit have her apply for the tourist visa. You don't send any documents and she apply on her own.

06.02.2014 - NoA2

01.04.2014 - Interview. 

AoS

03.2015 - AoS started.

09.2015 - Green Card received.  

RoC

24.07.2017 - NoA1.

01.08.2018 - RoC approved.

Thanks for your input. Can i submit affidavit of support on her behalf during her interview?  She lacks evidence of employment and/or the family ties may not be sufficient to show the purpose of her trip. In other words, she is in late 55+ and only teaches elementary school and her hubby doesn't work. I intend to include an affidavit from me and wife to show that we can take care of her when she comes. Do you think this is necessary or how would I do this part?

Unless she is very well off financially, she's wasting time and money applying for a tourist visa from Nigeria.  You offering support would make it worse, not better.  If she needs your support, they won't believe she'll return to Nigeria at all.  

 

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail

September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
