Once you have your final interview and you are approved, do you have to pay for the green card?  Either at that time of approval  or when u pick up your visa.   My understanding is once you get your visa, you need the numbers off it to pay for your green card before traveling to US.  Anyone w/experience please advise.  Thank you -

Yes, that's right. You have to pay the fee on the USCIS website AFTER you get your visa and before you travel to the US. If I remember correctly, you should receive a bunch of information with your visa that includes instructions on how to pay the green card fee.

Yes, it is recommended you pay the fee once you have received your visa/visa packet, but BEFORE you enter the United States. You can pay the fee online at the following website. You will need to wait to have your visa in hand as you will need your A# and DoS case id.

You will need to have the physical visa in hand before you can make payment for the card.  However, you can choose to pay for the card before you enter the US or after you enter.  The card will not be issued until the fee is paid that is the only restrictions.

Well, just as people have already commented , if you are successful at the interview it will take a couple of weeks to receive your passport with the IV  stamped in it plus visa package.

You would also receive a letter which kind of explains how to pay your green card fees and the information required to do so.

Paying your fees before you travel is ok but does not really make much of a difference because the document USCIS require to process your green card is what you will carry and hand over to a CBP officer at your point of entry. You can pay within 2 days after entry and that will not cause any delay in receiving your GC. If your take much longer than a week to pay after your entry that could delay receipt of GC.

Also it depends on how soon CBP sends that package to USCIS.
