I'm putting together my 129F and I'm going through all of our whatsapp and fb messages. My question is, when you submitted your packet, how many pages of chats did you add to it?

Just submit excerpts from a variety of periods and events :)

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Dont make a bundle of papers. I suggest you take screenshots with timestamps from a few months and take printouts...2 papers with chat logs are good enough and rest you can provide phone logs, emails, photos flight tickets, hotel receipts from visits etc

You are going through a tough embassy...make sure that you include the details  (plane tickets, visas, tourist attraction tickets, photos with family and friends). If I were you...I would include chat logs involving anything important....if you plan on seeing each other again....include your itinerary....

They will be more concerned with how much time you have spent together than what was said on facebook or whatsapp.....

I agree with @janet3. Another important requirement for k1 is you should have met in the last 2 years so send in your plane tickets, hotel and restaurant receipts and photographs fro the trip.

For me personally,  I sent 2 pages per month of chat logs, and same with phone calls. Just to prove we were in constant communication. As @janet3, stated you are going through a more difficult embassy. The more proof the better. Time spent together is going to be an important factor for this embassy. More so than chats/phone calls.

With chat logs (and really all evidence, except those that are specifically requested), don't just go for volume; be strategic about it. The goal of your examining officer is to find a reason to disqualify you for the immigration benefit you are applying for. Your goal is to prove that you are eligible for that benefit. So the evidence you submit should ideally:

  • Span the length of your relationship
  • Corroborate the key plot elements of your story (how you met, how you agreed to marry, how you've stayed together, how your lives are increasingly intertwined, and your plans for the future)
  • Not provide evidence that can be used against you.

So, for chat logs:

  • First be clear what overall story you're going with.
  • Pick 1-2 pages that show each of the key milestones in your relationship (from your meeting to the present time), not just a 200-page data dump
  • Choose sections that support other evidence you are submitting (e.g., chats about travel plans that corroborate a reservation for a trip to meet and frolick)
  • Be careful not to submit sections that could disqualify you (e.g., that show you've done a traditional marriage when you're applying for a fiance visa).

Hope that helps.

Always focus on quality over quantity. 200 pages of "I love you" and little smiling face emojis are not going to cut it. Focus on excerpts, just a few, that show that you are in a serious, ongoing relationship. Ones where you discuss your future together (but not just "I can't wait to see you, baby"), where you discuss where to live, how you will budget your finances, health insurance options, jobs, cost of living, buying furniture, savings account, etc. Also where you talk about your families - I sent conversations where we talked about my mother's 60th birthday surprise party, my sister's baby, his father's poor health, his nephew's sports achievements, where to spend thanksgiving, etc. This is not a competition to find the world's most romantic couple. You need to convince the officer that you are a genuine couple, an ordinary couple in love just like anyone else.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

We went through a tough Embassy with tons of red flags, so I made sure to front load meticulously and without the mushy stuff like “I love youuuuuu!!” every two sentence. However I did send in ample samples that showcased how we greeted each other every morning and night for the last 3 years, where we chatted about bills, home remodeling, what to do with my car when it was in the shop, illnesses, our workout routines etc.  and I included all these with everything else (boarding passes, passport stamps, pics, and anything else needed for a CR1).

Not every case here is the same and if you have red flags and are going through a tough Embassy, proper (planned not just loading it with everything!) front loading could be handy!

Quality matters, but at times quantity is needed to achieve quality! 🤓
