Hello.

 

My partner and I intend to submit the application for the K1 Visa while I am 18. I am from Singapore while he, is the one from the United States. However the age of majority in Singapore is not as clearly stated as it is in the US, where it is 18. I have contractual freedom, but the legal age of majority is around 21. Would this be a problem in submitting the K1 Visa application even if I am of the age of majority in the US?

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

With the K1 visa, you must show proof at the embassy that you are legally free to marry. 

 

Here in Jamaica it's called a certificate of no impediment to marriage. 

 

Since you'll be getting married in the US, your age shouldn't be a problem, but I'd in your country you need consent from your parents to get married, then maybe you can also include a letter of consent from them in the petition package that your fiance will send to USCIS. 

 

However, it really shouldn't be a problem. Take for example, in many countries, gay marriages are illegal, but since it's legal in the US, save sex couples can still apply for K1
