B2 visa from Korea impossible?

My wife who is a citizen now is telling me that it is near impossible for anyone from South Korea to get a B2 visa and that it will take months to process.  Is that true?  Is there a strict filter on B2 applications from Korea?  

 

 

we are just exploring options for her sister who was recently refused entry because 2 yrs ago she miscalculated her 90 day stay and had the plane ticket for the 91st day.  

 

My wife is saying that she (wife) was refused a B2 back in 98-99 because her background wasn't strong enough...ie education, finances, reason for visiting, etc.  At that time she has no ties to the US.  All her family was in Korea.

2/27/2007 sent I-129f

5/??/2007 USCIS needed additional info

7/23/2007 I-129f approved

8/3/2007 NVC approves application

8/27/2007 NVC sends approval notice to Seoul embassy

9/6/2007 Seoul embassy finally receives application/filed for interview

9/21/2007 worried about interview

10/13/2007 K-1 approved.

10/20/2007 Arrived in Ameriva

10/29/2007 Filed for marriage certificate

11/24/2007 Filed for AOS I-485 and AP

12/18/2007 Received RFE (overpaid, had to resend check)

1/24/2008 USCIS resumed application process/biometrics appt received

2/04/2008 Biometrics appt

4/??/2008 AP approved and received

9/??/2008 AOS interview schedule received

10/22/2008 AOS interview

11/3/2008 RFE received and returned

FAST FORWARD to Dec 2012. US CITIZEN!!

If she overstayed previously, there is slime chance she'll ever get a tourist visa.

06.02.2014 - NoA2

01.04.2014 - Interview. 

AoS

03.2015 - AoS started.

09.2015 - Green Card received.  

RoC

24.07.2017 - NoA1.

01.08.2018 - RoC approved.

B does not take long, apply and find out, overstay was a long time ago.
