k-1 visa application

Hi, is it okay if Ill be the one to fill up the I-129F on behalf of my petitioner? He wants me to file this for him because of his busy schedule. What should I do first.

Explain to him that this is an extremely important process that requires effort from both people....and accuracy is critical.

I'm the foreign beneficiary. I did all our paperwork because I have greater attention to detail. However, I made sure that we went through page by page of our paperwork so that he's aware of what's in it and we'd also correct whatever that's incorrect before submission.

You can do the paperwork if you want, but no matter how busy he is, try to get him to spend some time (even just 30 minutes) reading about the K-1 visa process and what will be expected from him after the paperwork is filed. It really helps a lot when both people involved in the process have a good level of knowledge about what documents are required, average timelines for each step, ect.

My husband is a mess with papers, hence why I was the one completing the I-129F and making/creating the cover letter/intent to marry (AND do our administration/taxes lol) There's nothing wrong with you filling out the majority as long as he overlooks afterwards, signs his parts, and adds the necessary evidence from his side.

It doesn't matter who fills in the I-129F, but:

1. He must review it and confirm the accuracy of everything. This form is signed under threat of perjury. Right next to the signature line is:
   "I certify, under penalty of perjury, that all of the information in my petition and any document submitted with it were provided or authorized by me, that I reviewed and understand all of the information contained in, and submitted with, my petition, and that all of this information is complete, true, and correct."
2. He must sign the petition.
3. It's suggested for both individuals to look over the form together. If he's so busy then it may delay when you file the form, but this really should be done...again, it's priorities.

After you get through the 129F stage and you are approved and your documents are being sent to USEM then I would recommend that you visit the Philippines subforum for any coaching. There are wonderful people over there that know the process for that Embassy. Not all Embassy's require certain documents that are required from their country.  Also, you may want to visit Hank's K1 visa website catering to those who are processing through the Philippines. He's too busy to do the paperwork that will bring you two together? Surely that's his number one priority! I commented on this last week. I'm amazed at how often I see foreign beneficiaries whose first language isn't English completing the paperwork because the USC petitioner is "too busy". The I-129F takes a couple of hours maximum to complete. It's not a paper on quantum physics. The questions are all very simple and general (name, date of birth, etc). How serious are the petitioners if they can't spare two hours?

 

Seriously, if my husband couldn't spare two hours for us to be able to spend the rest of our lives together he wouldn't be my husband any more. I'd be insulted if he had priorities over our relationship and future happiness.
