Mod hat off

Many ppl have brought their pets. I brought my dog, 2 cats, 2 birds, and a hamster. We drove from Ontario to Arkansas with all them and 4 kids was an interesting trip :)  All of them handled it well.

It would help to know where you are coming from so you can get more specific advice.

I brought my cat to the US.

Your dog will need a vet check up in your country. He needs rabies shot. In my country, I went with my vet's paperwork & rabies shot confirmation to the national government's department of cattle (one that oversees animal's welfare). They gave me an official document stating that the cat had good health and the rabies shot (based on vet's info). There might be something similar in your country. Or you should be fine with the vet clearance and rabies shot evidence (you can keep the box of the rabies shot, or sometimes they come with stickers).

By the way, I recommend that you take an empty carrier with you from the US. There are great carriers here and they are hard to find abroad (unless you like in Europe). Your dog is small so he/she fits under the sit in the cabin. I flew Delta and they are nice about pets on board but you need to let them know because they have a policy of number of pets in planes (every airline has a max of pets allowed). There are also fees when flying international with a pet. I don't remember but between 50-200 dollars depending on the length of the flight.

I have a carrier like this and it works really well. I've had it for 3 years and have used it 3 times on planes, more times in vet visits.

Make sure you take the dog in the cabin under the sit! That is why the correct carrier is key. Not all of them fit.

Good luck!

Maybe someone can visit and take the dog. It can be risky to have they dog shipped because they put them in a special area in the cargo (one with actual air and heating) and sometimes they don't take care of the dog.

I've been considering shipping my pets from Germany to the states as well, so I was scouting around.
Check "Almost Home - Pet Transportation", they're specialized in moving pets to the states. Don't know if they cover your area, but you can ask them on Facebook.
Another company I've inquired at is "Gradlyn"; seemed very good as well - at least from Germany!

Maybe one is worth a try. Costs a little (much) money, but a specialized pet freight should be the best solution (for your dog) if you have no one who can bring it.

Good Luck!
