Passport with visitor visa expiring

I had that a few times with my student visa still being valid but passport expired. Make sure to be very clear with the passport agency (whatever it's called in your country) that there's a valid visa in the passport, that you need the old passport back, and that they can't invalidate the visa - put sticky notes on the visa page etc. I was always afraid they'd "accidentally" puncture the visa - but it was OK. And yes it's a bit annoying but she'll have to travel with two passports.
