i130 rejected due to old version of form

My husband recently filed an i-130 and received back an i-797 reject notice stating that the form was out of date.

We have both triple checked on the USCIS website that the form we sent was the latest (version date 02/27/2017, expiring 07/31/2018) and can't see anything online to indicate there is a newer version of this form.

We emailed the Chicago lockbox however we wanted to know if anyone has experienced this or may be able to help.

Much appreciated

Sometimes that happens if the form wasn't printed properly too, like wrong format (I know Swedish and American paper sheets are different size, I had that issue when printing from my Swedish laptop). Not saying that's what happened in your case, but could be one reason for why they put "outdated form" as the issue.

Something else that crosses my mind is what supplemental form did you submit?  I've seen people with the updated I-130 but instead of submitting the I-130A along with it, they are submitting the G325A.  Did you possibly use the wrong form there?

Thanks!

We printed the forms as A4 International paper size, here in New Zealand it is quite difficult to obtain US Letter paper size.

Some of the pages I printed are also scaled slightly differently as I printed off multiple copies for any pages I made mistakes on.

We submitted the i-130 with i-130A.

The reject notice was stapled to the i-130

Ok, so we got a reply from the Chicago Lockbox.

The issue was that on the consignment note supplied with the couriered package, we had used NZ date format (DD/MM/YYYY).

When USCIS received this they interpreted this date as 6 months ago, when an older form version was available, marking our form's date as invalid even though it is the most recent version.

Hope this helps any others experiencing this issue.
