Hello....my US based brother is slightly concerned about the possible implications of filing an AOS for my wife. Could it possibly have any negative effects on his credit rating if she was to get bad credit herself or have an outstanding loan etc etc?

no

nothing to do with credit. if your wife were to use means tested benefits from the government and the government decided to claim that money back, the government would go after you first as the primary sponsor and then if you can't pay, the government would go after your brother to try to get paid

but so far I haven't heard any case in which that has happened

Ok great, thanks to all who replied. What if she was to get pregnant or injured, would he be responsible for any hospital bills?
