Expediting a case

My initial scan date was March 31st. I received q letter on May 10 staying that I need to submit a PCC from the passport office for my husband. Inorder  to get that my husband had to get a new passport because my name was not listed on the old one and PAL would not issue a PCC. I am currently 5 months pregnant and since it will take another 11 weeks for NVC to review after the second scan date it'll put us very close to my due date. I'm currently suffering from prenatal depression and taking antidepressants. Is there a way to expedite my case?

There's no expedite for pregnancy. Please be sure to get proper care while going through this stressful (and eventually joyous) time.

 

If the situation changes to where there is a severe threat to your well-being due to complications from the pregnancy, then (like any similar medical case), there can be an expedite.

Is depression not a valid enough reason?

No, it's not. I have my depression too and others have it as well. The whole process causes depression. So now what? Does it mean that everyone is qualified for expedite? Absolutely not.

@Boiler's response may seem facetious but there is truth in it. Immigrating loved ones is a stressful experience to all and it can certainly trigger depression.

It's also a bit of a case for "be careful what you wish for". If the depression was so severe that somebody needed to get here ASAP for their mental health ("emergency situation" expedite criteria), then they would also likely be inadmissible for the visa due to the medical results.

No, it's not the reason. May be you think it is, but USCIS / NVC does not think so. I am also in some depression because I am here without my wife for a few years already and it does not mean that they will expedite my case. If I could pay them to expedite, I would do so, there's no way.

This is a very good forum with knowledgeable people willing to help, but just because you don't receive the answer you want, no need to attack people. Immigration is very stressful and even though we feel we have valid reasons for expedite, USCIS doesn't see it the same way.

USCIS may expedite a petition or application if it meets one or more of the following criteria:

• Severe financial loss to company or person;
• Emergency situation;
• Humanitarian reasons;
• Nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States;
• Department of Defense or national interest situation (These particular expedite requests must come from an official U.S. government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to the government.);
• USCIS error; or
• Compelling interest of USCIS.

They were prescribed by the doctor.
