Made a mistake on my wife's medical application.

When i was filling up my wife's medical exam application, i made a mistake of putting the wrong visa category, i put f2a when i was supposed to put ir1. She already went through the medical exam and passed with the envelopes she needs to give to the u.s. Embassy on her interview. What should i do?

contact the medical centre and ask if the medical exam is the same. if it is  you will hopefully be ok, however it may be good to speak with the embassy also to make them aware

I-130 Petition Process:

Sent petition to USCIS Chicago lockbox (via in-laws to put check in US$): 11 Mar, 2016

NOA1: 24 Mar, 2016 (email notification 30 Mar. Hardcopy 11 Apr)

Service Centre: NEBRASKA

NOA2: 3rd Aug 2016

Petition sent to NVC: 18th Aug 2016

NVC Stage

Case number assigned: 8th Sep 2016

Paid AOS Fee: 9th Sep 2016

Paid IV Fee: 14th Sep 2016

DS-260 submitted: 25th Jan 2017

AOS & IV Package sent: 25th Jan 2017

Expedite requested: 25th Jan 2017

Expedite approved (consulate only): 1st Feb 2017

Scan Date: 31st Jan 2017

Case Complete: 14th April 2017 (10 weeks 4 days)

Full expedite approved (bypass NVC to send file to embassy), however too late as I already had case complete 17th Apr 2017

Case arrived at Embassy: 21st April 2017

P4 letter received: 26th April 2017 (expedite at embassy stage so this came from the consulate, not NVC)

Medical date: 26th April 2017

Interview date: 4th May 2017 APPROVED!!

Visa received: 8th May 2017 

POE (entered the USA): 15th May 2017

I called the embassy earlier letting them know of my mistake, they just told me to call the medical center. I cant really call them since I'm in the u.s. And the medical center is in the Philippines. I did email them tho, but i still dont have a response. My wife's interview is on may 9. I really hope this doesn't cause problems for her interview.

I would say if anything there may be additional tests or immunisations, and hopefully the doctor would be happy to do these and add them on.  Did you provide the paperwork to them or did they have it already?  The reason I ask, is over here in NZ the embassy provides you with the paperwork which you must take to the doctor. There's no mention of a visa type, its just a "US immigration medical" here.

Yes, the embassy gave me a letter that she brings with her to her medical exam. I really dont know why they asked because i was never told of a visa category they put her in. I'll just have her contact them to see what she can do. Thanks for your help.

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
