[travel] USC and LPR - which immigration line?

Was wondering if it's OK for a my wife (LPR/GC holder) to accompany me through the US Citizen's immigration line? 

 

We'll be arriving at JFK Terminal 1. I believe they have also APC kiosks there. We'd be using the same customs declaration card if there weren't kiosks

 

Anyone have recent experience at JFK T1 specifically?

The majority of the time that's what happens. She will accompany you in the US citizen line. But I don't think you can use a kiosk because her package needs to be opened and given to a immigration officer

cool, thanks... she has her GC already, package was last time we traveled. We'll plan to go through the USC line. Only complication I foresee is the her maiden name is on her passport, but given biometric data and other docs we'll have it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

 

only reason I'm concerned is we have a limited connection window, and the flight into JFK is always delayed apparently... don't want to wait unnecessarily and risk a missed connection

Not only will she accompany you, but you should get the magic yellow or orange card for the fast track line if your layover is less than 90min.
