Do you know why your application is in AP? If it was approved, then I'm assuming it's probably in security checks. Unfortunately, if that is the case, then it's just a matter of waiting and checking in every several weeks.

Hello geowrian,

I have no idea why my case is still undergoing AP. After the interview, I was congratulated and given an approval form. The CO even retained my passport then told me to wait two weeks to receive my visa. I have been sending enquiries every two weeks since then but I realised it doesn't make any difference.

The fact that he took your passport is normally a good sign, but 4 months is a long time. My bet is still on security checks. When dealing with support for AP, you will need to ask specific questions to get specific answers (i.e. Is it in security checks? Is it still at the embassy?).

Unfortunately, it is just a waiting game at this point. Best wishes.

I would like to ask, How does one get into a "Administrative Process" status?

Extra Info: Currently running a Fiance Visa. Just need a bit of heads up just incase. We're waiting for clearance of Culture test March 25 and psych eval March 15. Hopefully I can schedule an interview in April once this is all settled. Thanks!

AP is just a generic form of "additional work needs to be done". It could be a missing/incorrect form from the interview, additional information needed, further consular review needed, background checks, new medical needed / awaiting further results, etc. Pretty much anything after the interview means AP. It could be the embassy needs more special ink to print the visas. It's a normal process in most circumstances and not something to be worried about if it happens to you. It can take days (usually), weeks (sometimes), months (rarely), or years (very rarely).

Hello Debkay,

Did you send your inquiry via email to the consulate? I have my relative parents who were in AP for a long time. She sent an email directly to the embassy and they indicated the document they were missing/waiting for.

I believe when you contact the embassy they do provide a reason why someone is in AP. The embassy emails is provided below. They do respond within 24 hours.

Hello hasmax80,

Yes, I have sent several emails but they always tell me that they will contact me on the way forward once the process is done. Just recently, I sent them an email asking why my case is taking too long and they responded by saying that they are not authorized to give out any information concerning administrative processing!! So now I'm just waiting.

Sorry about the delay and indeed it's surprising. Where is your spouse country of origin if I may ask?  Did you consider contacting your senator?

I agree but it could also mean that they suspect immigration fraud and need to investigate further. It's not always just normal paperwork and unfortunately they wont tell you which bucket you fall into. I'm not saying this is the case here though.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they suspect fraud...if that was the case then they would just deny the application. They don't need to actually prove fraud to deny the application. But they may want to verify some things said, documents, employment or residence history, etc. because something didn't line up.

AP is still a completely normal process and doesn't mean anything is wrong. Something could be wrong, but AP isn't an indication of that. :)
