Hello, I would like to see if anyone has gone through the Visa appointment with tattoos. My husband will soon go to CDJ soon. He and I have had many sleepless nights because of our concerns about his tattoos. I know that in the Mexican culture tattoos where thought to be of malandrines, hoodlums. I know times have changed and people have became more open minded but I still have that fear that they will not understand and deny his visa. He has lived his whole life in the US since he was 5yrs old. He got some tattoos in his young days and I feel like they may affect him. He has on his upper arm an eagle with a Aztec head piece, next to it he has an owl holding a skeleton head and the owl has a pyramid with an eye on its forehead; on that same arms he has a shark with gloves. On this other arm in the upper area he has hands praying with a rosery and lady justice holding out the scales and is blindfolded with a bandana. No color in any of the tattoos. He also has my name and one of our daughters name on his wrist.

Has anyone been in this similar situation

recently. Please let me know. We fear he may be denied and unable to return to be with us. Please share your stories.

Seems like it would be an incredibly unfair reason to deny a visa, but couldn't he just wear a long-sleeved shirt and cover them up?

He would wear a long sleeve for the actual interview but what I'm concerned about is the medical. I have heard stories about people being denied for tattoos in CDJ.

I think that could be more if it's gang related tattoos but other them that they would not deny him for having tattoos!

My husband has a big tattoo piece on his back. I am worried but it is not gang related I told him not to lie if they ask him during his interview.  The medical doctor may write that up as they inspect their body anyways so I would not lie if they ask but if it is not brought up I would just leave it alone.  I don't think they would deny him just because of that unless it is gang related.  Good Luck to you and your husband.

I have a ton of tattoos and it's never been an issue for me. I have to admit I was a little nervous going for my visa interview with FTW tattooed on my thumb..

I think Ciudad Juarez is very strict on tattoos. I saw it on the news and I don't know if they do it to scare people or what so of course I googled and cried in bed for a whole day just thinking the worst (I have severe anxiety and depression) my husband has lots of tattoos none which are gang related but he has old English writing which I think they consider being gang related. He was a tattoo artist thought so I'm hoping that will help him.

I have five visible tattoos on both of my wrists and wore 3/4 sleeved jacket to the interview. She did not even seem to be bothered. But I get the worries because of Mexico's and gang-member tattoos but he should be fine if he has no gang tattoos.

When my ex husband had his medical exam for Ciudad Juarez, all they did was ask him the meaning of the tattoos. Like the person above said, as long as its not gang related then he should be fine. It will be OKAY!!! :D No need to stress.

My husband is covered in ink - sleeves on both arms, large pieces on both of his legs, one hand - and he had absolutely no problem at the medical or the interview.  He did wear a suit to his K-1 interview so that none were visible except the one on his hand.  Try not to worry about this.  Everything should be just fine.

If I am not mistaken, I think in the NVC Application form there was a page about entering the tattoos you have.  But it would seem strange to deny you a visa for that.  I know someone who has a pot leaf tattoo and still got a visa, I really doubt that is a reason for dismissal.  My husband has tattoos too, it's pretty common for those under 40.

In Philippines too, t'was a popular hearsay that you get denied when applying for a visa/medical if you got a tattoo.

I'd say hearsay because I know none that got denied because of their tattoo. I even have one myself.
