I have a conditional green card, but my wife is not ready to work on our marriage, I'm the third man she married... whenever we have a misunderstanding she threaten me with the green card and want me to beg her even when she's wrong cos she will tell me I would be deported..... it has been like this ever since I got here, at times I wonder why she agreed to marry me, when I got the EAD and conditional green card, if we have a misunderstanding she will seize my cards and cell phone, she took my Nigerian passport from me since I got here... we pay all bills together, now she wants to cut everything and told me she wants to end the marriage cos she doesn't want me to have the permanent resident, I would like to know if there's anything I can do to safe myself from going back to Nigerian cos of the present economic situation and bombings... I love the life I live here, my conditional expires 07/2018

looks like you just got your conditional green card, I would advice you to try and work things out and if you feel it is a dead end, then you should try and documents or keep evidence that proves you are a victim of domestic violence, you have the right to legal separation or divorce without the consent of your spouse and still keep your green card.

I have tried to get a lawyer, but I'm scared I'm gonna put her in any mess and it may be too expensive for me that I can't afford.... the last one she did to me, she tore my shirt and cut my neck with her nails, and she wouldn't let me go out,?I called the cops and when they came she was arrested and charged for assault and domestic violence, she went to court and lied that I was beating her, I was summoned to court but she called me before I went to court and begged me that we should sort things out, she was sorry she didn't know it would get to that point, so when I got to court I told the judge I didn't charge her for anything, the cops did on their own, the judge ask told me she said I threw a vase at her and she tore my clothe in self defense, we both told the judge that we are not charging each other for anything and he ordered us to go for anger management.... few weeks after that, my car was hit and insurance gave me a check to fix it, her car also got a fault and she had to drop her car at the auto shop to get fixed, she was suppose to go to work on that night without a car and I still have my car but was gonna take it to my auto shop the next day to get fixed, so I told her to take my car to work and help me drop it at the auto shop in the morning, I gave her $500 to help me give to the repair guy with my car, she took the money cos I owe her some money, and the check I got from insurance to fix my car wasn't enough

Can't you two go for marriage counselling? You said "we were both ordered to go for anger management". If you two could go for anger management, you guys can as well go for marriage counselling.

She might have deeper issues that counselling will unearth.

Wish you well!

Yeah we can, I'm ready to do anything to make this work, I have a good faith for the marriage, even the anger management she already doing hers and don't  want to do it together, not to talk of marriage counseling.... all she wants now is to end the marriage cos she know it will terminate my permanent resident... The marriage is important to me just like my permanent resident

Start documenting things now! This is classic abusive behavior, down to the apologizing and everything. If it is allowed in your state, start recording things. You need to document ALL of this, even if you never have to use it. As a man, it is assumed that YOU are the aggressor and you need to show a pattern of violence on her part in order to protect YOURSELF. Write notes in a protected file, store pictures in a protected folder that she can't find, etc.

Your wife ending the marriage wont terminate your permanent resident, she is trying to scare you, she has no power to do that. If you cant make the marriage work, you can ROC on your own.
