Getting worried about possible RFE

Hello guys,

I have been lurking here for awhile now, and first time posting.

My husband applied for the I-751 last year Feb 17, 2016. Online case status still shows "case received." We filed with the Vermont Service Center. Few things I am worried about:

1. We moved last July, 2016 and did the online address change. I got super nervous hearing people missing notices and all that, so my husband and I made an infopass appointment last November 2016 to confirm we did not miss any notices and to confirm the address change was successful. We confirmed both with the immigration officer. Does this actually mean the address was changed? I just don't want to miss any RFE notices and get denied..

2. Now it is almost a year now since we filed, and my husband and I are traveling to Cancun in early April. I thought we would have the 10 year green card by then, but not sure if it is happening.

Husband's extension letter expires 2/17/2017. His GC expires 4/6/2017. When should we go to an infopass to get the I-551 stamp?

3. The below evidence are what we submitted in our application initially:

a) Joint bank account for checking/saving for the 2 years after my husband got GC

b) Joint leases under both my name and husband's name for the 2 years

c) Car insurance policies under both my name and husband's name

d) 2 notarized affidavits from friends

e) Utility bills

f) Join tax transcript for 2014 and joint tax return for 2015 - could not get transcripts for the 2015 one, since we had just submitted the tax returns and IRS would not let me order them.

g) Pictures of us including both family members

I know that some people get approved with less evidence than others, but just wanted some opinion if what we submitted looks OK at least.

Thanks everyone! Hopefully everyone gets good news soon!

Vermont is currently processing December 14, 2015 so you have a ways to wait yet.  I would do the infopass and get rhe I-551 stamp in his passport before you travel.

Your dates dont make sense.  The letter extends the green card 1 year from its expiration date but you have it expiring in April of this year?  Im assuming there is a typo?

Sorry. Yes. I mean his GC expiration date was 4/6/2016. So if the one year ran from that date, his extension would expire 4/6/2017.

What I think is weird is that, even when the website shows they are now processing December ones, some January 2016 filers has been approved already.

Thanks!

Sarah

The approval process is all very random. Some get approved within the stated USCIS timeframe, some get approved outside normal processing time. I used to worry and wonder but I think they are all really random and how "lucky" you are to be approved within the stated timeframe.

In my humble opinion, removal of conditional green card is not a priority for the immigration officials- aliens are still able to work, live, and travel while waiting for adjudication so let them wait!

I agree..

I just hope I don't miss any notices - heard people getting denied because they did not reply to an RFE which they never got!!

Thanks!

there are 3 solutions to this since it happened to me while I filed for I-485. (I would do first 2).

1. Call Tier 2 officer and make sure they have changed your address on their mailing system. As per one of the USCIS officer, even if you change your address online, USCIS mailing address might not get updated and you might still get notices on old address, and yes it happened to me.

2. Just keep in touch with the old address (whether it is an apartment or house). When I moved, I told the new apartment people to text me if they get anything from USCIS on their mailbox. And they agreed.

3. Keep following about your case by talking to tier 2 officer monthly just to make sure you did not miss any notices.

I tried calling the Tier 2 officer, but it is difficult for me to get transferred over. I did make an infopass appointment to confirm our address change has been successful, and the officer confirmed the correct address has been updated. Is this not enough??
