Tax Transcript for Embassy Interview

So I am probably over thinking this like I do with everything else, but I was able to log onto the IRS website and just print out a copy of my IRS Transcript for 2015. Will this be okay? I know most requested it by mail, but they let me just download and print the document.

I still plan to bring copies of my last few pay stubs since I got a pretty significant raise back in July. I was hoping to get a letter of employment with my new salary on it in time, but unfortunately my HR team has been dragging their heels and I don't think I will get it in time so I decided to get the tax transcript just in case.

I know I don't have to prove income a zillion different ways. I just plan to bring 2 as the document instructions say, but my 2nd one feels like it isn't as official since I just downloaded and printed it out. It still has the fancy IRS letterhead on top... it just looks so simple to me.

MAybe ad in copies of your W2's from your company? That would be helpful too.

Yup, that should be fine. London embassy is not so strict anyways, so you'll probably be fine. Try to get the employment letter though - because I have heard that is their "favourite" type of evidence.

That's what they look like when you get them in the mail too. They are not fancy. Just plain black and white.

I am also bringing copies of my hubby's financial documents. I asked him if copies are fine and he seems to think so...I've also got a letter of employment from him and also a copy of his his dad's employment verification. Then copies of both of their paystubs, w2s etc .

Thanks guys. I am going to reach out to my HR contact just to try and get that as well. I just hope they can get it to me in time.

That's just fine. IRS statement has most of the info they are seeking. They do like employment letters too. We brought both and they were just fine with that.

They took the transcript off me yesterday. It was one from the mail but all it looked like was a 'downloaded from the web' version that someone had printed and shoved in an envelope and sent to us.

I notice there are multiple transcript types you can get online I assume it is just the "Tax Return Transcript" type that is needed?

 

My tax returns for the past few years dont look good due not having a proper job until 10/11 months ago. 


I meet well above the 100% poverty guidelines and have provided my partner with my employment letter, my updated employment letter (promotion) ..and notarised and about 10 of my past pay stubs which also reflect the increase in pay and my new position noted on the most recent ones, is this suffice for London. I just hope that if I provide a tax transcript it wont work against me and my partner due to it looking poor despite my current salary meeting guidelines.

Yes, that should be sufficient. Jon told me that they took all my paperwork proof that I provided as listed above, but the the letter from my employer and pay stubs were enough since I had received a promotion midway through 2016.
