Hello,

I'm going to file an I-751 form in January. Among other pieces of evidence, I'm going to include our joint tax return, which was filed electronically using Turbotax. I need to put a date in the end of 1040 and sigh it. I was wondering which date I should put: today's date or the date when we actually filed the form?

Hmmm... I was curious about this as well. I used TurboTax for the past 5-10 years and none of my returns were wet-signed. At an earlier stage in processing (NVC), I just put a signed note with the returns saying they were done in TurboTax and filed electronically, so they were not originally signed, and left them unsigned, but included my tax transcripts as verification. NVC had no issue with it.

However, since you are dealing with USCIS, and they aren't looking to verify the amount but the names, your mileage may vary. I'm wondering if a "return transcript" might help. I'm not sure what data is on those.

Hopefully somebody will chime in about how they handled this with an I-751.

Order tax transcripts. They are the best proof need no signature and you do not need to include all toe extra schedules and w2s and such.

Yes, I have tax transcripts and going to send them as well. But just in case I'd like to include 1040 and W2 as well.

i had exactly the same 1040 signature date question. i was able to find the date it was sent electronically by going in to my visa card payment/ statement. yes, did you pay that with your card before efiling it? if yes, then you have the date in your bank statement per year.

you can acces your bank statement online? if yes, then sign and date it accordingly.

i have both my 1040 and transcripts like you. not in nvc yet tho'.

good luck.

Yes, I can find out the exact date when it was filed electronically. The main question is which date to put: signature date (like today's date) or filing date.
