Hi all!

My mother is going to be our joint sponsor, so she has scanned me the 1-134 that she filled out for us. Do we need the original with a "wet" signature for the interview? Or will the scanned copy do?

Thanks!
Layla

Yes, you need to give the government the form with an original signature on it.

Just using copies or scans will not do.

If you are filing via direct consular filing, take the original with you to the interview.

If you are filing via the NVC in America, then send them the original and keep a copy for the interview. The NVC will send the original document to the embassy where you will interview, along with the rest of your package. If you sent a copy to the NVC, then bring the original to the interview.

The document IS FOR the government - There is no reason to give the people who NEED it only a COPY of it.

They want the original document, so that if they ever end up in court, they have the original signed document to show.
