Form I-864: Verifying which federal income tax doucments to use

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding 2015 federal income tax documents for form I-864. Can I used my tax form 1040EZ, or do I need to have the transcripts from the IRS? I am having problems accessing my tax transcripts on the IRA's website. I am hoping to use tax form 1040EZ instead of the transcripts because I live overseas, and the IRS physically sending tax transcripts to me will take too long.

You can use whatever tax form you filed but you will also need to submit the W-2. Don't know why you are having trouble getting transcripts. No need to wait for transcripts as once you sign up and log in, they are available electronically.

Thank you, Gregcrs2,. The main problem is the IRS wants a valid credit card or loan for verifying purposes, and I never provided this information to them. I guess I will have to call them. Thank you again!

Personally, I went ahead and gave them my 1040/1040EZs (gave 3 years, for some reason 2014 was a regular 1040, thanks Turbotax) with W-2s AND the transcripts. I also three in my Social Security transcript just to confirm.

I would indeed call IRS and ask about the transcript issue. Worst case scenario, you send it in without them. They aren't required unless for some reason you lack your tax returns, but in my personal opinion they are more credible than tax returns and I'd rather have them in there.
