Long time in between visits

Hello everyone!

I wanted to ask if anyone here has gone a long time in between visits with their spouse? I've visited 3 times and my next trip is coming up soon, but it will be 6 years in between 3rd and 4th visit. What are your thoughts on how much of a red flag this is? We have chat and call logs during that time, but I was in school and establishing my career.

6 years is a really long time to go with out spending time with your spouse. Considering how difficult this embassy can be, I think the consulate will question the large gap between visits. They may wonder how serious your relationship is, why you would go so long with out seeing each other or if it's a priority to you. To the Ghana embassy face time is like gold.

I know you said you were in school and working. Couldn't you have gone during break between semesters or did you not have vacation time at work? I don't want to sound mean, but I think it could be a problem for you.

Thanks for the response. Well I can't change the past, so I'm asking how to deal with it now that we are in the application process. I'm sure they will ask in the interview and want to know best way to respond.

No one can tell you exactly what to say...If you can answer O&GForever's questions. You should be fine.

"You can't change the past" will not be a good answer for sure.

You said you have an upcoming trip, just make sure you take that trip before the interview.

Oh yes, the trip will be before the interview. Possibly 2 trips before the interview if I can. It was a money and time issue, and frustration with being long distance. But now I feel ready to take on the financial responsibility of bringing him over.

All you can do is tell the truth. There was a couple on here that were recently denied because the consulate felt the man lied to him.

The recent trip will definitely help. A second if possible even better. I understand it's expensive. I've been to Ghana 4 times and have a 5th planned hopefully in the next few months.

Thanks for the advice! I definitely wasn't implying to lie in the interview. Since it's a hard embassy, I just want to be prepared.

I could see an argument that could be made both ways to be honest.

Like some have mentioned you can look at it as your relationship wasn't that serious if you didn't even bother to visit your wife for 6 years.

On the other hand, if you explain convincingly the fact that it was purely a financial impossibility for you to visit your wife within those 6 years, it can be looked at as rather impressive that you and your wife stayed together through such a long period of being apart.

Unfortunately I feel like the interviewer will be more likely to believe the first situation, but that doesn't mean you can't try.
