Police Certificates NVC

Hi,

I have worked for 2 years in a foreign country. I obtained the police certificates when i left. I never again lived in this country for many years now. It makes no sense to have "new" police certificates issued, if I have not lived in the country since the old once were issued. Is NVC/Emabssy seeing this same way, or would I risk delay by providing the old police certificates?

My understanding was the you didn't need a new police certificate if you hadn't been back to the country. It might be worth writing a note to send in explaining this with your police cert.

That is correct.

I left Germany in 1999 and sent a police certificate from Germany dated 2004 (which I need for when I applied to become a foster parent in the UK).

My case was complete last week.

I did not live anymore in the country, but visited 3 times. Each times not more than 48 hours.

I suppose this still qualified me to submit the old PCs? I do have the entry and exit stamps of the

country (Macedonia) in my passport.

Going back to visit is fine. I have been back to Germany a lot since I left. Just as we don't have to provide a police certificate from everywhere we have been on holiday or business trips, we don't have to provide another one if we go back to visit a country where we used to live.

Thanks a lot! On one of the police certificates there is a slight misspelling in the name of my mother.

Instead of and "s" there is an "z". All other data, incl. my name, address, date of birth and father's name are correct.

I assume that this is not a "material" error and I don't need to bother to get it re-issued?

I have provided old police clearance at NVC stage but did request a new one recently. I have received my case complete yesterday indicating Embassy may request for updated PCC if whatever submitted was over a year old. Do check if you would get the same. I worked in Qatar and never been back since I left.

Oh, so basically they are leaving the door open... Do they say 1 year old when submitting to NVC, or 1 year old at the future date of interview?

This is exactly what it says:

The embassy may require additional documents at the interview. For example, if the following three items
are all true, the applicant must bring a new police certificate to the visa interview:
He or she is more than 16 years old;
The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one
year ago; and
He or she still lives in the country that issued the certificate.
In my understanding during interview no police clearance should be older than 1 year. Most of what I got says expiring in 6 months from the date of issuance really praying i need not get a new one when interview happens this things are costly lol

"He or she still lives in the country that issued the certificate"

As we would not live anymore in this country, the 3. one would not be true. Therefore, the letter, in my understanding, says that no new PC is needed. Thanks for sharing!
