When I've moved over to the USA and married my fiancé, is it okay for me to keep my uk bank account open? It would be handy for my parents putting money in on birthdays and Christmas, not to mention I'm still paying off my overdraft (once I start working I can top it up cos PayPal)

Is anyone else doing something similar?

You just need to remember to file the form FBAR IF all your foreign bank accounts/investments add up to USD 10,000 or more during the calendar year

https://www.fincen.gov/sites/default/files/shared/FBAR%20Line%20Item%20Filing%20Instructions.pdf

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

Yep, we've had a Danish account open for the past 3.5 years after moving. It does come in handy sometimes.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Another great reason to keep one open is that when you return home, getting your US $$$ exchanged to GBP £££ is cheaper to do at your bank than it is at the airport and travel exchange places. They charge higher fees and usually don't give you the best exchange rate when compared to your actual bank. Most banks won't do a currency exchange unless you have a bank account so I would definitely keep it open for that reason. We are keeping Jon's for this reason alone pretty much!
