Sending 129F direct to CSC

I was advised by the local immigration office here in San Francisco to mail my K1 application directly to the CSC rather than TSC. I told the rep that "I'm pretty sure it has to go to TSC..." and she responded with "No, why would you do that, you live in California and you're mailing to the California Service Center."

I overnighted my packet last week and it was signed for on Friday. I'm wondering if the fact that I didn't go through TSC could have any impact on the application or is that pretty benign?

TSC is not doing K1 visa's any more.

I live in Houston and mine was directed straight to CSC.

It still goes through the Texas Lockbox though in Lewisville and then is rerouted to CSC.

Why would you ignore the instructions on the USCIS website?

https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

What's done is done but going forward always follow the instructions associated with the forms to the letter.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Ugh. You all have me worried now. The instructions form that the immigration office gave me here told me to send everything to a Po Box in California here. So I followed those instructions. Now what?

I noticed that the document she gave you is dated 2007, That is 9 years old. I am pretty sure all applications go directly to the Dallas Lock Box and from there they are sorted go the appropriate location. If you look on the USCIS, it give specific instructions.

Ok I know about the Texas lockbox but I was only following the instructions she gave me and she was adamant about it. I figured she knew better. Now what? Do I start from scratch or wait again? The California center signed for the letter last Friday so they supposedly got it. No check has cleared on my end and Monday was a holiday too.

I can mail out a new packet as soon as Monday but I'm not sure if that's a wise idea either I don't want to pay $340 fee twice.

Maybe you should sit tight and wait till next week to see if the check is cleared or not.

Sometimes, the USCIS hotline or even the local office people might give you the wrong / outdated information.

So please always triple check the information from the official USCIS Website.

Agree with Merrytooth. It can't be said enough to check the official website from the USCIS before believing anything anyone says to you.

Please again, note the difference between the Texas Service Center (TSC) and the Texas Lockbox. They are NOT the same entity. TSC does not handle K1 petitions any longer (since more than a year), but all packages must still be sent to the lockbox to be routed (not transferred) to CSC.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

The procedure was changed in 2010, according to this the service centre will return your application and advise you of correct filling location
