129F question about former wife

Dear Visa Journey Friends,

On the form 129F, question 14A and 14E ask about former wife's Alien number and date of filing. I do not have that information. ( I petitioned my ex wife on 2006, and divorced this year)

• Can I leave it blank?
• If I can't leave it blank, where can I get that information from?

Why not just include a note that the information is unknown?

Just write unknown. Also, make sure you have plenty of relationship evidence since you divorced this year. Have proof of your timeline. Date of separation from your ex, date of final divorce from your ex, when you proposed to your fiance, how soon after you divorce did you file I-129F. Sometimes the Interviewing Officers don't like situations where the times overlap. We know from personal experience. We turned out OK because I had been legally separated for over two years. The legal battle just took a very long time. If there is an overlap they might think your fiancee broke up your marriage.

But why is it any concern of theirs? It may be immoral even if the fiance did break up the marriage (one person cannot break up another marriage anyways -- it takes at least two people to do that!), but why should the IO have the right to deny a visa based on that? They should be evaluating if the relationship is real, if the immigrant is safe, and there's no threat to anyone's well-being.... right?

They want to make sure you're waiting the appropriate amount of time, if you need a waiver, or if you're just bringing people willy nilly to the USA. I'm pretty sure it's the US government's concern.

No you cannot leave it blank. You should be able to look on your old paperwork to get that information.

For the A# put Unknown. For the date of filing put 2006. If you can recall the month, then put the month and year.

That's not what my comment was about.

My comment was about the IO suspecting the beneficiary broke up the first marriage.

Who knows that may be an issue... of course it's a concern for people who bring multiple partners to the USA.
