You will need to file taxes to be able to sponsor him or you will need some one whos willing to co-sponsor. The co-sponsor becomes jointly responsible, along with the primary sponsor. The primary sponsor or the co-sponsor will need to meet the income requirements depending on the house hold size for 2 it needs to be at least $20,025.

You need to start by filling your taxes, including previous years you haven't filed for. I also think you'll need a co-sponsor, since 2000 a month for four people is probably not going to cover the poverty guidelines.

Also, India is a tough embassy for K1 - so please read up on that. It might be worth meeting him more than once before filing.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Yes you have to.

The sponsor have to make enough for his household + your friend.

For adjusting status the income for the 4 of you must be 125% of the poverty guidelines and not 100% (some CO's insist in 125% for the I-134)

which totals $ 30,375 for 2016, it increases every year.

Minors always count in household size regardless of whether or not you claim them on taxes;

so your 2 daughters counts on your household size.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

1. If you have an income, you must file tax returns even if you don't have to pay tax.

2. Must be legally and officially divorced; cannot petition for K-1 while separated.

3. As a single mom, be careful about marrying someone overseas. Expect lots of scrutiny if you and boyfriend are not of similar cultures and ages.
