Advanced Parole time out of country

I have an appointment as a visiting lecturer overseas for 3.5 months next year, and I am wondering if there is a limit to the amount of time I can be out of the country on with Advanced Parole. I realize the AP is valid for multiple entries over a year after issuance but I'm concerned there may be interviews or other matters that come up while I'm away, that the duration of my absence might jeopardize the application, or wether or not they actually let me back in.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Is you AOS already submitted, or are you just thinking ahead? You don't have a timeline, so it is hard to see where you are in the process. 3.5 months away should not be an issue, but as you mentioned, if you are required to have an interview as well as your biometrics for your GC this may require a couple of long flights as you don't want to miss it.

Good Luck!

Agreed. 3.5 months isn't that much of an absence. What you want to make sure is someone keeping an eye on your mail for biometrics or interview appointments so you don't miss any, as they both could lead to your petitions being denied invalidating your AP causing you to get stranded overseas and needing a spousal visa to return.

Thanks guys, good to know.

I'm going to do my K1 interview next week and should all go well will be back in the U.S., married and submitting paperwork by early next month. I don't have a lot of time before my overseas appointment starts (I estimate appx 115 days between filing for AP and my flight out) but should all go without significant delay the AP *ought* to be issued in time for my departure so long as it takes 3 months or less. To give some leeway I'll try and have the AP expedited but unsure of how convincing I will be able to make the pitch, I figure now harm in trying, right?

During an info pass I asked how long I could be away on AP and they explained that it is valid for 1 year but after 6 months CBP will give you a hard time when returning. So you'll be fine being away for 3.5 months. As mentioned earlier, make sure you have someone who can check your mail and keep an eye out for biometrics appointment etc.
