Hello,

Can someone please help me to know the next step after I receive the approval letter regarding my I-130 petition for CR-1 visa?

I know this is a frequent question but I looked at different topics but the info were kinda vague.

Can someone tell me what the expected next step is? who will get mailed: me ( the petitioner) or my wife ( the beneficiary) ? what forms/documents I and my spouse should work on?

OR can someone point me to a topic that explains all these in a clear way?

Thanks for your help as always,

H

After USCIS, they will send your petition to NVC. They will mail the petitioner the NOA2 informing you that your petition was approved and will be sent to department of state NVC.

Here is a link to guide you on the steps and documents you need, https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html.

Once you have received your noa2, call nvc and follow up if they have received your petition from uscis.

Thanks - I guess where I am confused is : Does the NVC contact both of us by mail? would I or my wife (overseas) be required to send documents back by mail too?

When I called NVC to ask for our case number, I gave them both of our email address so they can contact us thru email and it will be way faster than waiting for a mail. NVC sent us both an email since I listed my husband/petitioner as my agent. It depends on your country if its electronic or mail processing, check the link I shared you will find it there.

electronic processing is different than the NVC sending you checklists etc through email. Electronic processing is being able to send items TO the NVC via email.
