Hi,

I do have a question concerning assets on I-864. If petitioner doesn't meet the income requirement:

1. Can he use his assets outside US?

2. The total value of assets must be equal 3 or 5 times the difference? (The case F1)

3. Can the intending immigrant help to meet requirements using his assets outside US? (Case is going through the consular processing)

Thank you

1. It depends on the embassy; most want assets to be US based, so they can be seized by the government if necessary.

2. 5 times; 3 times is for a spouse of a US citizen.

3. No-ish; can you add the petitioner's name to whatever assets there are?

Thank you for the response. Well, the truth is, that the petitioner needs 58K of assets to meet the requirements and he has 60K in US, it's kind of on the edge, that's why i'm worried would it be enough, so been thinking of providing evidence of assets outside the US as well.

I think in that case, showing the foreign assets may help; he technically has enough in the USA, but it is close, so the extra stuff is just icing on the cake.
