-Gathered all the things needed on the checklist (got the checklist from someone else from my country so I'd know all these things before getting my own checklist). Filled out DS-160, got the police certificate and so on.

-Booked Medical

-Finally got the case number 30 days after NOA2 by calling NVC

-Waited for the embassy to get in contact with me (the checklist -packet 3 or whatever you call it)

I wonder how my fiancé can book his medical, because he needs to ASAP. Did they give you a list of certain doctors you could go to, or how did go about doing that?

- Wait around two weeks to four weeks to call the NVC for your case number.

- With your NVC case number you will be able to track your approved petition until it has been arrived to the local embassy or consulate.

- In the meanwhile you can fill out the DS-160 if wanted.

- You could also start gathering original documents (wet signature signed) like the affidavit of support and a new intent to marry.

- The embassy or consulate will contact you through e-mail or letter stating what they need/want from you.

So you can either wait until your letter from the NVC and your letter from the embassy or consulate or start gathering some documents right now. Just keep in mind it can take another 1-2 months, maybe even three, until your documents will be needed. (Depends on how fast the NVC is right now with case numbers) Maybe, like Scandi suggested, try find an example of packet 3 from Venezuela so you have an idea what they can ask from you and what you can gather.

Two things you can do right now. 1. Start with your Embassy's website. http://caracas.usembassy.gov/instructions-for-k-1-k-2-visa-applicants.html It behooves me that people don't start with the Embassy that they will process through. 2. Go to the sub-forum for your country http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/ and ask your questions of those who either have gone before you who are there to help, or those who are like you who are new to the journey. They will share the P3 and other tidbits.

Greenbaum, thank you for that lol, that's where I got all my info from and it surprises me also XD

NVC received my file about 2 weeks after NOA2, I started calling at 2 weeks and had Case number at 2.5 weeks out. Then it took about a week or so for status to change to "Ready". If you read the Venezuela embassy info here on VJ (It was last updated like a year or two ago :( so now everything is different I guess?) but it says there that you have to email the embassy since apparently they will NOT automatically send you anything (I found this part the oddest lol). However, there is no official information about this on any government website zzz I got in contact with other people going through our embassy and they have been extremely helpful (we have to stick together! XD) I emailed them on friday and still have not heard back (other people said they got a response in 1-2 days). However, me and my fiance just went forward with the process :hehe::oops: *Disclaimer, I have no idea if we should not have done this, so I really hope it doesn't blow up in our faces lol, we were being so impatient :(

but you could for sure set up your account through traveldocs and start filling out the DS-160 (you don't have to submit it right away and it takes a little while to fill out so I would probably start it now and you have 30 days to submit it or you have to start over) I have no idea what packet 3 actually contains since we haven't gotten it, but when we got the confirmation email for our appointment, it had a list of everything we needed to bring (which can be found on the embassy website with detail) so you could also start gathering those things now (like affidavit of support and evidence of ongoing relationship).

As for the medical and police report (I hope you/your fiance lives in or near Caracas because you have to go in person there for BOTH <_< ) but I believe if you go to the embassy website and do some digging you will find all the information about the medical with a list of doctors and addresses and such, I believe as of now there are only two doctors you can go to. All in all, if you do a lot of digging and jumping from link to link on the embassy website and traveldocs, you will find basically ALL the info you need.

Good luck!

My fiance lives in Valencia, and he would have to go to Caracas to do all that stuff!

Everything you're telling me is so useful!

Any other tips?
