Attend the Interview

My Fiancee is in the process of setting up her Medical and interview. (Manila, Philippines)

However, I have heard about how other people would attend the interview with their fiance(e). By doing that, it shows a much more stronger relationship and that it's more likely to be real.

Now the thing is, I'm confused on what I would do about for her flight. Because she can't leave the Philippines until the K-1 Fiance(e) Visa is issued.

I would have to buy a round trip flight for myself which means I must know the return date. However, I want to be on the same Airplane with her while I go back to the USA.

So far, the guessed interview date is September 1st. (We didn't yet select a date because she just paid the fee and it's after 3pm)

Hi! I just had interview yesterday and she will still be approved if ever you can't make it that day of the interview. My fiance arrived midnight after my interview. Lol. He wasnt able to make it.

And yeah, that was our the same problem when we were still processing the BPI payment, medical and interview. We def want to know the return date and the like. But we only decided to get the return ticket after the medical is approved. It was our only source of anxiety for booking a return flight. So then, as soon as we got the result, we bought ticket right away. :) We'll be flying back to US together Aug 7th. :)

So here's what we did that made the process quick!

We paid BPI and then the next day WE BOOKED MEDICAL AND INTERVIEW RIGHT AWAY. There's no sense in delaying as long as your documents are already complete!

We paid BPI like July 14 then booked July 28 for my interview, then pre-registered Medical and then chose to go to St. Luke's ASAP because that's the only thing we need to wait to get return tickets. I went to have my medical July 19th. Thank God it all went well :)

So my interview process just took long because of the lines in each step. But it went so smooth. The interview will be fine for your fiancee, nothing to be nervous about. :)

That's great you have passed both, medical and interview.

However, how long does it take to get the Visa in hands after passing it?

Also, don't forget the CFO, I am not sure if you have done that yet.

So we allocated 10 days after my interview in our return date. So I had my interview 28th, then Aug 7th is our return flight.

Right after getting the medical result, i had extra days before my interview. I used it to have CFO seminar and it only took almost 3 hours since I picked the ONE SESSION WITH ONLY 15 slots. :)

So I'm just now waiting for VISA to be picked up in 2GO SM MOA, that way you will get it earlier than 10 days. :)

The waiting time actually is 5-10 days. :) better make 10 days allowance just in case. So since I already had seminar, I can jsut go to CFO and get the sticker and we're good! :)

Once she's approved they say the visa is shipped within 7 days via courier, 2Go I think.

The embassy has plenty of available dates last I checked, usually within a week of the present date. St. Luke's is the wildcard, they frequently throw a psych exam in the works, they did to my fiancé. Which usually adds another 2 weeks to your timeline, and P1200 :-|

I suggest, DO NOT BOOK HER TICKET GOING TO THE STATES, unless your fiancee has the visa on her hands, IMHO only.... that happened to me. My fiancee now husband, book our tickets going back to Hawaii

after my interview, since they told us that I will have my passport/visa on my hands 3-5 business days from the day of my interview. But that was not the case, turned out I received it 12 business days from the day of my interview (excluding sat&sun.)

NOTE: Not all situations are the same, she might be lucky to receive her visa sooner, it really depends, nothing is certain or specific. and nothing we can do about that but wait and wait and wait and stay calm and positive .:)

So, he had to rebook my flight, for the next week, and He flew back here in Hawaii one week ahead of me, BECAUSE he needs to get back to work.

So more dollars spend in rebooking my ticket.

IF it won't work out with your flight schedule, she might fly to the states by herself, sure she can do that, right?

I'm pretty much a country bumpkin, but I did it well and flew here alone. so she will be okay :)

Hope I am able to help a bit at least. God bless, :)

There have been many cases that couples have booked their airfare and the receipt of their visa had failed to materialized as they had planned. Then the other shoe drops and they find out how much it is going to costs them to change the ticket. Some cases, the fee to change was close to what the original ticket cost. If you are willing to play Russian roulette and have the money to do so then be my guest.

Just this week I have been helping someone with her journey and her visa went to issued and she was so excited. Then, her status changed back to AP and her visa was pulled. She called USEM only to not get any kind of straight answer on why it was pulled and without knowing when could she expect her visa. Frustrating at best. So over the week she called every day, only to never find out what really happened until yesterday. She was informed that her visa was pulled because someone had issued a different visa category then the one she had interviewed and was approved for. Lucky for her it was caught as it saved her an additional 2-3 weeks of sending it back, waiting for the new one to be issued and then waiting for delivery.

In the end she was lucky more so because she had not purchased her ticket. :secret: So be smart about this and not purchase your airline ticket till you have your visa IN YOUR HAND!!

Embassy states in their letter: Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

I agree with the others...I would not not purchase the ticket until the visa is in hand...too many things can go wrong. Good luck.
