Good day everyone!! VS was such a big help in my journey towards joining my then fiance now my husband in the states. :?

As we are now approaching our 1st year wedding anniversary, my husband is planning to book a cruise in September. I just looked at my passport and it will expire in January!! Am I right that there should be a 6 month validity period for me to travel outside the country? I was looking online and it said on the uk.gov website that my passport needs to be sent to Uk for it to be renewed..whoa!! It will take ages for sure!!

Can I not post it to a consulate nearest to us here in California so that I can get it in time?? Can someone please send me a link to help me with this dilemma.

Please help!! I was so looking forward to this trip and now I am stressing about it. ?

I don't know about the 6 months but I just completed my application today to have my name changed to my married name, the forms say 4 weeks but they also said that last year when I renewed from within the UK and I had it back in a week

I'd probably check with your travel provider to see what they say re the 6 months, on the ukgov website there is a chat thingy where you connect to an advisor, they may be able to give you better advice?

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

I'm not sure about the 6 month thing, but I know that when I applied to renew my UK passport from here in the US it only took 2 weeks to have it back in my hand. I tracked it and had my new passport in my hand 5 days after the application package had been received at the office in the UK.
