Ok, I am an American Citizen living in Germany, while we await the visa. I am trying to fill out my I864 and on Part 4 where it asks for my country of domicile, do I write Germany, and if I do it asks for proof that I intend to reestablish Domicile when the intending immigrants admission to the US. Or do I write US and just send a copy of my visa and my bank statements in the US. I am so confused. Any help would be great

I have lived in Germany for 18 months. I am on my second 1 year visa. I am not military. Do you know how I prove that I will re-establish domicile in the US when my husband is admitted

Domicile is a legal term that doesn't really have to do with residency. Since you've only been gone for 18 months, you could easily still claim US domicile without having to prove you want to reestablish it. You'll pretty much always be US domicile unless you intend to live in another country indefinitely, and you have to go out of your way to prove that your intention is to change from your US domicile.

This thing is going to drive me to drink. So I should put America. How do I prove a permanent address in the states. I still receive mail at my mothers house, is that enough

For the purpose of the application you could use:

Proof of having filed taxes

Bank/credit card/mortgage statements

Proof that you have voted in any US elections

Dirver's license/state ID

Job offer from potential employer

Resignation from current employer

Proof of receiving mail (your mother's address)

Car registration/insurance at a US address

These are just a few examples off the top of my head. Someone else may chime in with more.

Your info doesn't say, but I am assuming you are filing DCF through the consulate at Frankfurt?

Good luck!

Thank You so much, I have bank statements, credit card bills, my taxes and my drivers license. I also have my temporary visa that will expire in februry, I guess I will send them all and hope for the best. Hope it works, I just want to get back to the US

What D&B18 said, although you'll rarely be asked for proof of domicile. I can't think of a time when you might be, expect maybe to prove that you are a US citizen but not US domiciled. So providing a permanent address in the US isn't necessary for proving domicile, i.e. you don't need you mother's address for anything unless you want correspondence for your application sent to there. I wouldn't get too worried about it. I've only ever seen domicile used for tax purposes. I was a US citizen living in Ireland preparing US and Irish tax returns for a while. All domicile does is tax you differently. Any time I've seen it come up it's just a check box. You're just making a declaration of your intention to keep long-term ties with the US or not.

Awesome! I found them really quick and efficient, no complaints at all. Everyone there is really friendly and my husband even came to the interview (if you could call it that, it was more like a informal chat) window with me. I don't think you will have any problems, so please don't get stressed!!!!

Good luck, you will be done before you know it.

I have been good through the whole process. The 864 was the death of me. So many questions

I hear you! That was the bit I was dreading too. Once you've got that out of the way, it's all downhill from there! The good thing about Frankfurt is they let you submit your evidence before the interview so if there is anything missing or they want additional information they will let you know beforehand so you don't get an RFE on interview day!
