Do ALL websites get an RFE?

I've been reading that a lot of couples get RFE's for meeting on a website and they need to show proof that this website isn't a marriage broker site. This makes me so angry because I could have easily provided the Terms of Use for the site my fiance and I used had I known the USCIS would've wanted this information to start with. However, the website we used wasn't a dating website at all. It's a website that connects people who are learning foreign languages. Does the USCIS RFE everyone who meets online? Are there any couples who didn't get an RFE for this?

My husband I met online too so did many. USCIS doesnt give RFE just because you met online. You have to have solid valid proof of your relationship to prove that as genuine.

My question was, does everyone who meets via a website get an IMB RFE? My fiance and I have plenty of evidence that our relationship is genuine, seeing as to how we live together.

If you only briefly stated that you met online - then an RFE will probably be headed your way. If you provided more information, you may or may not be lucky.

We met online too and didn't get an RFE. However, we never stated that we met on a "website", we only wrote that we met "online", we weren't more specific than that.

I was actually waiting to get an RFE for that, where they wanted more info about exactly where online we met. But nope, we got none.

Curious, what other relationship evidence did you guys submit originally? Did you explain your first/last in-person meeting on q34 also? Would be nice to be able to determine what causes an RFE for online dating - other than "some people get it, others don't".

It will depend on the officer adjudicating your case. Some will ask more info on the website you met, some won't.

My fiancé and I met through Tinychat. We did say that in explanation of meeting but never added anything to it. No RFE for it, also.

I explained we met on that website because of our interest in learning the other's language. Through our Google Hangout chats, we learned we had a lot in common. Then I provided evidence that I went to meet him in March and then I came to live with him for up to 6 months, and provided copies of plane tickets for both visits.

This is a very easy to fix RFE, my fiance and I got one, we sent a document saying that the website we met is not a IMB, a copy of the terms of use and within a week we got our NOA2.

I put that we met online, I didn't mention where (an online video game), but I put it like this:

"I, <Myself>, met <My fiance at the time> online near June 01, 2010, and then met in person at San Antonio International Airport on May 23, 2013. <Fiance> stayed in San Antonio from May 23, 2013 until May 27, 2013. <Fiance> has visted and stayed with me, <Myself>, at my home on July 11, 2013 to July 15, 2013, October 17, 2013 to October 21, 2013, December 22, 2013 to December 26, 2013, April 10, 2014 to April 14, 2014, July 17, 2014 to July 21, 2014, November 24, 2014 to November 29, 2014, and April 13, 2015 to April 18, 2015 as of the date signed."



We didn't get an RFE, but I also provided that we met online in 2010, didn't meet in person until 3 years later, and then listed all subsequent visits. The only thing we didn't have evidence of was meeting online, since it was on a video game and we were just friends. We did have proof of all visits though, the hotel stay, and our earliest chat conversations on FB that were somewhere around March 2012.

We did exactly the same thing, Ash.1101. We just briefly mentioned that we met online (not more specific than that) and then went on to write about the times we've met IRL - where, the dates, for how long. And also the date we got engaged. That's it, it was short but to the point, just like yours. No RFE.

Yeah all my statement said was:

"We met online on October 14th, 2014 and then in person on June 12th 2015"

No RFE.

Though at his interview he was asked about what site we met on.

My fiance and I were approved with no RFE....we simply explained in the declaration of our relationship that we first met on Tinder. We didn't include Terms of Service or anything.

In general, simply stating you met "online" has not worked for people in the past (that I've seen in my time around here). They usually are sent RFE's for that. For the very least, I think stating the name of the site is mandatory, unless your relationship has been in existence for a number of years and can easily be considered legitimate.

My theory is that they understand that the well-known sites (tinder, match, eharmony) are not IMB's so they are not as insistent for the terms of service but they will probably throw up a red flag for the sites they are not too familiar with. Therefore, adding the terms of service to your petition is definitely advisable if its not a very well known site.
