I'm just looking to bring mu wife to the usa and I've looked at the step by step I-130 here and there's no mention of the I-485 I'm so confused now ??

The I-485 is only needed if your wife is already in the USA on a student or work or tourist visa. Since your wife is in her home country, you need one I-130 and a G-325a for each of you. You can also send G-1145 if you want to be notified by email or text alerts.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

hi

no i485 for your wife, that's when the beneficiary is in the US and qualifies to adjust status in the US

your wife is in her country so she will go through consular processing and have her interview in her country and not in the US

You can also send G-1145 if you want to be notified by email or text alerts.

Just a brief follow-up to the above, electronic notification as a result of submitting a G-1145 ends once you are notified that they have received your file and sent you a receipt number. If you want to receive additional updates via electronic notification, you would need to sign up for them via the USCIS website.
