IR-1 visa and minor misdemeanor assult charge

Quick summary of the situation....

I applied for my wife's IR-1 visa about 2 weeks ago (in Seoul, Korea). Last week my wife (foreigner) was being screamed at by someone at work and she grabbed the person's arm. The person called the police for assault. She met with the police and in about 2 weeks a judge will decide if this was assault. There is a very good chance the judge will dismiss this charge (the girl just wants money) but in the event that she is convicted of even the most simple assault (possibly considered a misdemeanor, not sure how the South Korean legal terms translate into American standards) will this result in her visa being denied???

I'd greatly appreciate any info because if she is denied a visa I can't even imagine how much of a disaster it will be for us.

THANKS!
