HI, My husband and I are the first step of our IR-1/CR-! Spouse Visa, we have received out f1st NOA and awaiting for our next steps. My husband realized that his mother's name is spelled wrong on our marriage license, which is the way I spelled it on our I-130 application. I have so many questions and concerns about this

Will this effect us in any way?

If I do have to correct it how do I let USCIS and NVC know?

Can I correct this now on our license and then let USCIS and NVC know.

Should I let them know now and then have it corrected?

Do we both have to be present to correct the license or do can I correct it on my own?

I am so worried. Any help would be helpful to us.

Thanks,

Mayra

Let's clear up a couple of things first, are you you referring to the marriage license or marriage certificate (they are two different things).

Second (and this is simply semantics), the I-130 is a petition form, not an application form.

Since you will have to spell his mother's name correctly on future forms, have it corrected if you can. Otherwise, just explain that it's a typo on the part of the issuing authority.
