Canada Post Strike - packets coming from consulates ???

Hey Everyone .... I'm sure hundreds of people are worrying about this as well. I heard this week on the news about the pending canada post strike and freaked out because i am having a US wedding in august and was worried my package wouldn't be mailed to me. Had my interview approved on June 21 , got approved, and then got "issued" as of June 22.

I've been checking the https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ website everyday and now there is a popup saying that they are changing the mail service to purolator ! . And says there are only a small list of pickup locations and you only have 5 days to pick them up ! . Wondering if anyone has called the montreal consulate about this ? I'm sure there is going to be a huge delay just because of the process of them switching couriers but i hope to god i get an email very soon. my status has been "issued" for 3 business days already and no email.

Send email and ask to pick up passprt and visa

The issue i have with that is by the time that they open my email , pull my package to be ready for pick up , and then reply back to me saying that I can pick it up ..... it will probably have shipped out by then. Also on a side note i am a 8hr drive away from the consulate so it is no easy task lol.

I'm just wondering if anyone called the consulate in the last couple days to ask about the mail issues we should expect from switching to purolator at the last minute and what their response was.

Yeah i actually emailed them and asked them if purolator was still going to send my packet to my home address since i paid for that home shipping when it was canada post . if they don't honor that then i'm sure we are all going to have to just drive to the nearest post office . At least calgary is only 6hrs away from you. The nearest purolator pickup location is 7hrs from me .

It's just ridiculous though. Places like Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario (where i am) are going to have no pickup locations yet the toronto area will have 4 pickup locations and the calgary area will have 3 pickup locations.

I'm wondering about Saskatoon too. Since I live there, there's no way for me to pick it up at all. But then, I haven't had any e-mail from them about my visa (it's still on ready though) and the actual visa confirmation page still says Canada Post?

Yeah i'm sure you're going to have to drive to the nearest big city like calgary or get a bus over there to get it like everyone else not from a massive city. If you're doesn't say "issued" yet then at least you still have some time to figure that out too.

There are purolator places in most cities. Im sure they will ship to the closest city just like they did with loomis/dhl?

So i have a small update for those wondering. I checked my status this morning. It used to say "issued" and then below it was saying "your visa is undergoing necessary administrative processing, as your interviewer told you it could take etc etc etc " today it is showing "ISSUED" and then blow it says "Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than five (5) working days, please go to http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courrier_information to track your courier waybill."

That page just pops up an error page so im assuming the tracking info just hasn't been updated to it yet ? I will keep updates and tell you guys if it seems like it is still going to my home address .

So quick question.. but is anyone else having issues opening up https://ais.usvisa-info.com/? It just started happening this week for me (obviously it worked before, as I finished my interview last week). Fiance can visit it but I suddenly can't.

Edit* And if our case hasn't been issued (or put into processing, we're still in the 'ready' part, apparently) can we update it to home delivery? This thing is making me nervous about having to drive/fly to somewhere.
