My husband and I finally received an appointment letter for this June 29th at 8:30am.

On the letter it states in all caps that an interpreter would be needed if my husband doesn't speak English.

It states that it cannot be a family member. My husband isn't 100% fluent in English yet (he's learning still) .

Does this mean that I can't interpret for him? Do we need to take a person to interpret for him? Sorry if this is a dumb question :/

Yes, it's better to have a designated interpreter, other than yourself.

Is there anyone here that has had the interview that took (or didn't take) an interpreter but their sponsor wasn't 100% fluent in English??

This guy did not take a designated interpreter, ended up not being able to interpret well enough (legal terms etc. I assume), he's awaiting denial and most likely will have to re-file.

My brother in law is a Spanish teacher.

Like I said, I have no personal experience, but him being family is not a problem (in the thread I linked USCIS would have let the husband interpret for the wife), so yes, your brother-in-law would work.

Give him a copy of the I-485, so he can see a part of what he has to translate (the yes or no questions are always asked at the interview).

Well. See, this is why I'm asking if I should even take an interpreter. I'm bilingual (English and Spanish).

My confusion came about because I wasn't sure if they'd accept me interpreting for him.
