My wife received a green card on June 2nd. As of June 15th, it is not in the system, and therefore cannot get a social security card. How long does it take to get "in" the system and how do I check to see if it is?

Usually just need to go to the SSA, apply and show green card. You can ask if she can be found in the SAVE database using her maiden name/name on K-1 visa. Show green card in married name and bring marriage certificate as well. Not sure why they would not issue an SSN using a green card as ID. Maybe the next SSA worker will be more knowledgeable.

~ Moved from AOS from Family Based Visas to Social Security Numbers - topic about SSN~
