When can my wife apply for her citizen?

- My wife is permanent resident since 10/23/2013

- I'm citizen since 07/25/2014

- We got married on 11/08/2011


When can my wife apply for her citizen?

Timeline

5 Year is the typical waiting time , however there is an an exception to the rule , 3 years if married a US Citizen. I don't if your case is different since you just became citizen not too long ago

Under the 5 year rule she can apply 90 days before 10/23/2018

Under the 3-year rule, she could have applied 90 days before 10/23/2016, but only if you were a citizen for 3 years at that time.

So because of that, she has to wait until you hit the 3 year mark, that means she can apply on 07/25/2017 (not 90 days before).

So to recap, she can mail her application 90 days before 10/23/2018 as a 5 year applicant OR any day on or after 07/25/2017 as an applicant married to a USC for 3 years.

Either way it's best to wait a few days after the "eligible to apply date" to be on the safe side.
