I have a question. What happen if USCIS does not send any notification of extension before my green card expire? I send my package on march, 11th. I got it back on april 18th, they ask me for more information, so I send it back on april 22th, they got it on april 25th and since then nothing had happened. I do not even have the notification that they send to you telling you that they got your paper, you green card extended for a year and soon your biometrics will arrived.

Im 9 days away from been illegal and it does not make sense because I send my paperwork 90 days prior the 2º anniversary of my green card. USCIS says they dont have any case filled for me, so basically my paper are stock in some desk. They can help me, so what would happen to me if they dont filled my paperwork before my green card expired?

Thank you

Have they cashed your check yet? It could just be a delay with mailing the receipt, but if your check is cashed then you shouldn't worry too much.

My concern is that it took them about 5 weeks to mail the package back to you the first time. And if they are doing that again, then your status will expire.

Why did they send it back? What is the "more information" that they asked you for?

I did not send a check with it because I was asking for a waiver fee. So, they send it back because I need my tax return for 2015, I just send the w2 because at that time we did not have our taxes. When the package came back we send it again with the tax return for 2015 and is taking again 5 weeks. The problem is that without the money or the waiver they dont register my case. I think that maybe the waiver fee application is taking time, but still is the second time, so they should realize that they already see it and fegure it out faster that before.

Oh wow, so I see why you are nervous. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you should do in this situation.

If it were me, I would try to schedule an InfoPass appointment at my local office and talk to someone in person. I would ask that if the fee waiver is declined, and you have to send the package again with the payment, will it still be valid since you sent the first two packages before your green card expired. Because if they deny the fee waiver, then it is likely that you will be out of status before you can send the package again. Do you have some proof of sending the packages twice? Like a tracking number?

Edit to add: Also, you may want to start a new topic on here so more people see your situation. I'm sure only the March filers check this thread now.
