My girlfriend will be visiting me on a B1/B2 visa in August. I plan on proposing to her before she goes back to Thailand. What, if anything, can I do in advance of the proposal? I already have my birth certificate and I'm ready to fill out the I-129F.

Form g325a, one from each of you is needed as well. Both need to be signed and the original sent with the petition.

People keep saying this, so I keep asking. Do you have any links to any RFEs for non-original signatures on the letters of intent that have happened within the last few years?

I believe that letter of intent can be scanned and faxed. I don't know of anyone having REF for having it copied. Also, my understanding there was a new policy a while back, that if the beneficiary forgot to sign the G325a, they are to have it signed at the final interview abroad. True or not, I am not sure.

That's incorrect information. Many many many, including myself, had scanned versions of the G-325A and the letter of intent.

I can show you proof that they do not have to be wet signatures.

Can you prove your argument (from a government website) that states they must be original?

It's a misconception that having it notarized does anything. Especially if you pay for it, it's a waste of money.

Getting something notarized only proves that you signed a piece of paper, it doesn't make the document hold any more truth.
