Does the AOS timeframe depend on your local field office?

Ok this may be a dumb question but I just need to clarify it,

Does the AOS timeframe depend on your local field office?

My case status states that the National Benefit Center (Lee Summit Missouri) is working on my case but when I call up the USCIS customer service they always ask for where I live and then say your local office is working on etc etc at this moment in time.

Initial processing for family-based adjustment of status cases is done at the NBC (Lee's Summit, MO office).

If adjusting from any other visa type than a K, it's then handed-off to your local USCIS field office for an interview and final adjudication.

For K adjustees, you have around a 50-50 chance of that same hand-off and interview, or your case remaining at the NBC who adjudicate it without an interview.

Right....

I am a k1 adjuster so is there a way for me to know whether they've handed my case to local office or not? my status is still stuck on "Fingerprint received etc etc" since Oct and I don't know which timeline to follow....

Thank you btw :)

Unfortunately there's no real way to know, short of receiving an interview notice.

Generally, the longer you've been waiting, the more likely it is that you're still at the NBC.

Did you receive a Notice of Potential Interview Waiver letter? If so, your case is still at the National Benefits Center. We got the waiver letter in September, and that's where ours has been since June of 2015. <_< They are certainly taking their sweet time! We had to send in applications to renew my husband's employment authorization and advance parole.

There is no fee for either initial or replacement EAD or AP documents.

You should file for renewals 120 days before your current documents will expire, if your I-485 is still pending.

Yes, we have called, we've had two infopass appointments, we've filed 3 service requests... all to just be told the same thing; that there is a huge backlog ("factors not related to your case") and it's taking a very long time to complete all the background checks. They said once that part of the process is finished, what remains only takes about "an hour" of work. It's incredibly frustrating, but apparently not that unusual for NPIW cases, according to what I've read on that huge NPIW thread here on VisaJourney.
